Professional Training and Credentialing

Sheela has her Master’s degree in Counseling from Oakland University and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, the American Counseling Association, The Michigan Counseling Association, and The Michigan Association for Marriage and Family Counselors. She facilitates Marriage Enrichment Groups, is a certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator for premarital and marriage counseling, and is a Marriage Mentoring Program Leader. Sheela also has corporate experience through her previous career in banking and health insurance; and in the education field while working with gifted and academically at risk adolescents.

Professional Experience

Sheela Wright specializes in relationship issues with couples, individuals and adolescents. She is passionate about empowering couples to create greater connection, hope, and meaning in their marriage through issues such as communication, conflict resolution, intimacy, and parenting. Sheela focuses on working with life transitions, anxiety, depression, identity development, empathy enhancement, and self-esteem. She helps children and adolescents through challenges and tragedies such as loss, divorce, abuse, or other stressful life events. Working together with the strengths you already have, Sheela provides information, strategies and techniques to move you toward achieving personal goals and change. Within the constructs of grace, empathy, trust and forgiveness, Sheela practices an integrative counseling approach to help individuals recognize how early life experiences along with thoughts, feelings, and behaviors shape their relationships today. She helps you gain confidence through learning how to access and identify emotion and communicating assertively. Sheela considers it a privilege and a blessing to be a part of a process where through the power of faith; hope and healing are possible even when pain and frustration exist.

Personal Information

Sheela and her husband of 30 years have successfully raised two sons, both of whom have recently graduated from college and begun careers of their own. Sheela enjoys spreading God’s words via her mission work in Africa, South America and locally. She loves reading, playing golf and spending time with family.
