Breaking Our Cycle – Healthy Conflict is the third installment in our marriage enrichment series, designed to help couples break free from destructive conflict patterns and build a stronger, more secure relationship. Through biblical wisdom and research-based strategies, you’ll learn to navigate disagreements with greater confidence, turning tension into teamwork. Whether you’re stuck in recurring arguments or want to strengthen your communication, this seminar will equip you with the tools to turn conflict into an opportunity for growth and deeper intimacy.

About: Rob Shive is the Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Oakland Hills Counseling, LLC, a position he assumed in September 2008. Previously, Rob served as the Executive Director of Christian Family Services from 2006-2008, and has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan and Colorado (previously) specializing in marital, premarital, and individual counseling since 1993. He is warm and compassionate, and is committed to helping couples and individuals find practical solutions to their struggles as they heal, grow, and recover emotionally and spiritually. Rob and his wife, Karen, also a professional counselor, conduct marriage conferences, premarital seminars, and marriage enrichment weekends. Rob also served as a youth pastor as well as a campus minister with Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru).

About: Karen Shive specializes in working with women, adolescent girls, and couples at Oakland Hills Counseling. She utilizes a variety of therapy modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Internal Family Systems. Karen and her husband, Rob, lead marriage and premarital workshops, retreats, and designed the MarriageBuilders teaching and small group curriculum. She is passionate about helping couples develop emotional, spiritual, and physical intimacy, and grow in their communication and conflict resolution skills. Karen also teaches on many parenting, marriage, and women’s issues in addition to her counseling work. As mother to an internationally adopted child, she is dedicated to helping parents and adopted children understand their unique issues and grow to thrive.
