Professional Training and Credentialing

Sherry holds Bachelors of Arts Degrees in Accounting and Business Management with an additional emphasis in Speech Communication from Anderson University. Sherry has a corporate, management and communication background through her previous career. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Moody Theological Seminary. She has practiced at Intersessions Psychological Services Clinic in Plymouth, Michigan, prior to her work at Oakland Hills Counseling, LLC. She has participated as a leader in the youth program at her church as well as facilitator of women’s Bible study groups. Sherry is currently licensed by the State of Michigan as a Limited Licensed Psychologist, and is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. *Limited Licensed Psychologists are supervised by a Fully Licensed Psychologist.

Professional Experience

Sherry’s areas of concentration include individual, couples, family and group therapy; helping clients experiencing relational difficulties, depression, anxiety, anger-control management, stage of life and boundary issues, loss, and other areas of emotional concern. She is also skilled at and enjoys working with adolescents, joining with them as they navigate through a complex season of life. Further experience includes pre-marital preparation and marriage enhancement counseling.

Sherry has also served as a teacher and group therapist at Life Challenge in Detroit, Michigan, a one year residential substance abuse treatment facility. Previously she practiced at Intersessions Psychological Services Clinic in Plymouth, Michigan. Her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Moody Theological Seminary has provided her with an opportunity to integrate a Christian worldview with psychology in order to provide a faith-based foundation to psychotherapy. Her previous career in the business world has provided her with important management and communication skills, which contribute to her practical orientation toward problem solving and conflict resolution. Additionally, her life experience as a wife of over 22 years and a mother of two teenage children has equipped her with a unique understanding of marriage, women and adolescent issues.

Personal Information

Sherry and her husband have been married for over 22 years and have two teenage daughters and a Scottish terrier. She enjoys running, reading, decorating and sewing. She appreciates the amount of traveling she has done as it has furnished her with the opportunity to experience many different cultures. Spending time with her family as they treasure all of life together is a great source of her joy.
