Professional Training and Credentialing

Jessica received her bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in biblical from Colorado Christian University. For nearly two decades, she worked as an educator both domestically and internationally, and as a professional curriculum writer in publishing, before earning her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. She has training in, and experience with, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused brief therapy, PrepareEnrich premarital and couple’s therapy, and behavioral therapy for children with autism.

Professional Experience

Jessica Goldsmith began her career as a teacher in Japan, and has continued to be involved in international education efforts throughout Asia and Africa over the years. After Japan, she was an elementary teacher for a few years, before moving into educational publishing and then Christian publishing. As a writing editor in Christian publishing, Jessica led others in developing engaging materials that promoted personal and faith growth in children and adults. Despite moving into counseling, Jessica has continued to write for multiple publishing groups on a freelance basis. As a therapist at Oakland Hills Counseling, Jessica specializes in adolescent and women’s issues, marital, and family therapy. She is passionate about helping individuals and couples to identify underlying needs and begin to advocate for health in their relationships. She takes a holistic approach, focusing on emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. Jessica tailors interventions to each unique individual or couple, pulling from scientifically-proven therapies.

Personal Information

Jessica is married, and she and her husband are foster parents. What Jessica enjoys most is adventure and exploring to learn through travel, volunteering, outdoor exercise, reading, and podcasts. New to the area after living in Colorado for more than a decade, she enjoys exploring the water and land across the beautiful state of Michigan.
